    Kathy Doran

    Chair

    Kathy joined the Trust as Chair in 2019 and brings over 40 years of public sector experience at national, local and regional levels. From 2006-11, Kathy was chief executive of Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT). She then spent two years as chief executive of Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral PCT Cluster from 2011-13. In addition to having an in-depth understanding of the NHS, Kathy has a significant amount of leadership and board experience, having held non-executive and chairing roles in the NHS, housing and the third sector.

    Chief People Officer

    Andy has been Chief People Officer since 1st October 2025 and was previously our Deputy Director of Workforce and OD. He is a seasoned workforce leader with over 15 years' experience across the NHS, charitable, and private sectors. Since joining The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in October 2024, Andy has led strategic initiatives improving collaboration between NHS organisations, including work associated with the LAASP Stronger Together programme . Andy's previous experience includes senior roles at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and at Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. He also spent several years as Chairman of Chester Football Club. With Level 7 CIPD accreditation and having completed the NHS Future People Leaders Programme, Andy is committed to building inclusive, high-performing teams that support exceptional patient care across the organisation.

  • Jo Bowden

    Chief Finance Officer

    Jo has been Chief Finance Officer since 1st July 2025 and was previously our Deputy Director of Finance. Jo trained with the Audit Commission and qualified as an accountant in 1999. She has experience across the public sector including the NHS, education, local authority, and police, fire and probation. Jo joined the NHS in 2005 and set up Mersey Internal Audit Agency's (MIAA) Manchester office. In 2008, she moved to Salford Primary Care Trust as a project accountant managing change programmes including the opening of five new health centres. She helped to set up NHS Property Services' Manchester office in 2012 before moving to Health Education England in 2015 as National Head of Financial Services. She joined The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in April 2020 as Deputy Director of Finance. Since February 2021, she has also been a director of Clatterbridge Pharmacy Ltd (trading as PharmaC), our wholly-owned community pharmacy company. Jo's most recent achievements including establishing the PharmaC logistics service and negotiating the contract for PharmaC to take over from Lloyds Pharmacy at Liverpool University Hospitals.

    Chief Nurse

    Julie joined The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as Chief Nurse in 2021. She joined us from The Christie in Manchester, where she was Director of Nursing and Director of Infection Prevention and Control. Julie qualified as a nurse in 1993 after training in Salford and at the Bolton School of Nursing and Midwifery, spending the first years of her career as a staff nurse in gastroenterology, intensive care, adult medicine and general surgery. After working as a clinical tutor for a number of years, Julie joined The Christie in 2005 as a specialist nurse in blood transfusion and moved into more senior roles there as a nursing manager and then director. Julie has a strong interest in nurse education and professional development, and in transformation and continually improving quality of care. She has a longstanding commitment to improving the quality of care and experience of people with cancer. Julie is our Trust's Caldicott Guardian responsible for protecting the confidentiality of patient information.

    Chief Information Officer

    Sarah joined the Trust as Chief Information Officer in 2017 and has been a member of the Board since 2019. Sarah has a degree in public management and a postgraduate diploma in health informatics. She achieved an Executive Healthcare Leadership award through the Nye Bevan Programme in 2019. Sarah has over 24 years' experience working in digital and informatics and was previously Deputy Director of Informatics at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Geoff Broadhead

    Senior Independent Director

    Geoff initially joined the Board as an associate non-executive director in 2018 and has been a full non-executive director since 2019. He has been the Senior Independent Director since January 2021. Geoff has over 30 years' experience in senior financial roles within the public and private sectors, including more than 20 years at board level. He has significant experience in corporate services, having managed finance, IT, human resources and facilities services. Geoff is Chair of our pharmacy subsidiary, PharmaC, and non-executive lead for Freedom to Speak Up at the Trust.
