    Chair

    Doris has extensive human resources experience gained in a career at Ford Motor Company. Latterly she was Ford's HR Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Doris also led the African Ancestry Network at Ford and was named by Autocar as one of the top 100 most influential women in the Auto industry. Doris is Chair for Prostate Cancer UK, and holds non-executive directorships at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, Clarion Housing and the University of East London. She is also a Lay Member to HM Courts and Tribunals Service and freelances as an HR Consultant.

    Professor Paul Fish

    Chief Executive

    Visiting Professor, London Southbank University Paul has worked in the RNOH since February 2015, when he joined as Chief Nurse. Prior to joining the RNOH Paul held a number of senior posts in hospitals in both London and the North-East of England, including extensive experience in specialist hospitals, university hospitals and integrated care organisations. In May 2020 Paul took up the role of Interim CEO alongside his Chief Nurse role and provided leadership for the organisation through the Covid19 pandemic. In addition to leading a number of changes in the trust in support of the wider NCL system, Paul lead the trust through a review of its strategic direction which has resulted in a confident new vision for the organisation.

    Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Medical Officer

    Lila joined the RNOH as Chief Medical Officer in October 2019, having been Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Free Hospital London for 18 years and most latterly, Divisional Director of Surgery since 2017.She has a strong background in education, dealing with doctors in difficulty, clinical governance and change management. She manages the RNOH Academic portfolio, is SRO for a number of major clinical digital projects, and manages a number of programmes to enhance clinical governance and digital safety. She took on the role of Deputy Chief Executive in December 2021 with a focus on growth and clinical efficiency. She took up the role of Regional Clinical Director for Anaesthetics for NHS E/I London Elective Surgery Recovery and Transformation Programme in April 2021 and holds a number of ICS leadership roles, as NCL Covid Oxygen and Equipment Resilience Lead and co-chair of the NCL Evidence Based Interventions Committee. She is an NHSE London Responsible Officer Appraiser. She continues to work as a Consultant Neuroanaesthetist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, UCLH part time.

    Having initially completed an honours degree in Sports Science, Fraser spent the early years of his career in the fitness industry. He joined the NHS in 2004 and since then has held a number of leadership roles spanning Estates and Facilities, Operations Management, and Corporate Governance, gaining an MA in Corporate Governance in 2012. Fraser spent six years as Chief of Staff for two consecutive Chief Executives at Cambridge University Hospitals, and is an Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute of the UK and Ireland

    Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Finance Officer

    Helen joined RNOH in January 2026 from South West London Integrated Care Board, where she was Chief Financial Officer responsible for finance as well as the delivery of both the system-wide Green Plan and Infrastructure strategy. A finance professional with over 20 years' experience in the NHS. Previous roles have included CFO at Great Ormond Street Hospital, leading finance, procurement, commercial function, and acting as executive lead for the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub. She has also held regional and system-level roles focused on transformation, education, and workforce development, including at NHS London and UCL Partners.

  • John Doyle

    Director of Allied Health Professions

    John joined the RNOH as Director of Allied Health Prrofessions in July 2019. John trained as a Physiotherapist at the University of Southampton before later completing his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at Kings College London. He is currently undertaking an Executive MBA at Ashridge Business school. John has worked in leadership roles in both the NHS and Independent sector. He has previously worked in clinical roles as St Georges Hospital, Imperial College NHS Trust, Ashford and St Peters NHS Trust and Frimley Park Foundation Trust. John is also a trustee of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Charitable Trust.

  • Laura Bevan

    Chief People Officer

    Laura started her HR career running the graduate recruitment programme for an international management consultancy firm. Laura joined the NHS in 2002 as an HR Advisor at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, where she subsequently took on the role of Senior HR Manager and then Associate HR Director. Laura was Deputy HR Director for West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust between 2014 and 2019 and was responsible for the effective running of all operational HR services in the Trust. In this post, Laura delivered a significant HR transformation programme, supporting the Trust to dramatically reduce its vacancy rate for nurses and move to become a top quartile Trust for staff experience. In January 2020, Laura joined the RNOH as the Chief People Officer. Laura also has a role as co Branch Chair for the Healthcare People Management Association London Academy and chairs the London HR Director / Chief People Officer network. Laura holds a BA honours degree in English Literature from York University and is a Fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).

    Director of Estates and Facilities

    Member: Trust Board and Executive Committee 25 years management experience in estates and facilities having worked both for the NHS and the Private Sector. MSc in Planning Buildings for Healthcare. B.Eng (Honours) Degree in Building Services Engineering. Fellow of the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management.

  • Professor John Skinner

    Director of Research, Stanmore Musculoskeletal Academic Research Teams (SMART) Centre

    He has collaborated and published with more than 200 co-authors worldwide and mentored and supervised several MD theses and supervised research projects for trainees, medical students and other researchers. John has also contributed to work at the RNOH by taking various leadership roles, such as chairing the Infection Control Committee for 11 years and the Medical Staff Committee for five years. Nationally, he chairs the Joint BOA –MHRA Expert Advisory Group on Metal Bearing Hips and has been President of the British Hip Society. He is on the council of the British Orthopaedic Association and the Editorial Board of the Bone and Joint Journal.

  • Tanya Joseph-Kaunda

    Chief Operating Officer

    Tanya joined RNOH in January 2017 working across a number of senior operational roles. Tanya has operationally led cancer services at RNOH leading to significant pathway improvements particularly post covid19 pandemic, resulting in even better access to treatment for patients in a timely manner. Prior to joining the RNOH Tanya has worked in operational roles across acute and specialist tertiary services including emergency and maternity services. Tanya holds an MSc in Leadership and Management in Health. In June 2024, Tanya commenced in post as the Chief Operating Officer, she is keen to see further improvements made across all pathways to reduce waiting times, ensure a great experience for patients and staff and reduce health inequalities.

    Felicity has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including senior leadership roles in digital transformation, HR, risk management and audit. Most recently she served as People Operations and Business Management Director for Lloyds Banking Group. Felicity has 10 years’ experience as a charity trustee with Citizens Advice Hillingdon where she chaired the Staffing and Resources Committee. She is an independent trustee and member of the Finance, Audit, Risk and Investment Committee at the Association of Anaesthetists, a trustee of the Imperial Health Charity and co-opted to the Board at Hightown Housing.

  • Manish Tiwari

    He is Royal Society Wolfson Fellow and Professor of Nanoengineering at UCL. Currently Director of Research in UCL Mechanical Engineering, where he helps curate the research strategy and related priorities. He has been part of UCL’s Wellcome/EPSRC centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS) from inception and will continue to engage in the centre for his work on the engineering innovations for interventional healthcare. He co-led the Manufacturing Futures Laboratory in UCL’s new campus in Queen Elizabeth Olympic park from conception and is currently part of the steering team. Manish is interested in nanoengineered systems for energy and healthcare, with special emphasis on sustainable materials and manufacturing technologies. Manish has received a number of prestigious fellowships for his research. This includes Royal Society Wolfson Fellowship, Starting and Consolidator fellowships from the highly competitive European Research Council (ERC) and Yusuf Hamied Visiting Professorship from the Royal Society.

    Matt is the Managing Partner of Burrum River Advisory, where he specialises in providing advice and support to healthcare and infrastructure organisations considering large or complex transactions. He has thirty years of experience advising on projects including new hospital developments, large infrastructure projects, NHS and private healthcare mergers, contracts for clinical and support services, and strategy development. Matt previously led Grant Thornton’s healthcare business in the UK. Prior to that, he was the partner in charge of NHS transactions at KPMG. He is currently working on a number of projects aimed at integrating NHS shared services in a number of locations, helping clients explore options for private finance for new healthcare developments, a proposed major new pathology centre, and the renegotiation of a PFI contract. He has experience in the healthcare, transport and energy sectors.

    Experience: Michael is vice president of innovation and strategy at UnitedHealth Group where he has responsibility for developing new sources of growth for the Fortune Global 10 company. Previously, Michael was head of healthcare and pharma partnerships at Huma Therapeutics, a UK-based technology company dedicated to digital-first care and research, and before that global director of partnerships and deployment for Google DeepMind, a leading AI lab, working in the UK and internationally. He was also director of strategy and then national director of system transformation for NHS England between 2013-19.

  • Professor Anthony Schapira

    Non-Executive Director

    Professor Anthony Schapira is Head of Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and is consultant neurologist and Professor of Neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Royal Free Hospital. He is a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Oxford University Hospital and is on the NHS Reconfiguration Panel. He was a Non-Executive Director of the Royal Free London Hospital 2009-2020 and chaired the Clinical Standards Board Committee during that period. Professor Schapira’s research interests include the molecular and clinical aspects of neurodegenerative diseases. He leads a program of research on Parkinson disease supported by the MRC, UK and US based funders, with current active grants > £15 million. He has over 500 peer-reviewed publications with more than 40 in Nature or Lancet series journals and has edited over 15 books on various aspects of neurology. His H-index is 115 (Clarivate), 141 (Google Scholar), 125 (Scopus) and he has >25 citation Classics (>400 citations). He has been on the annual list of the world’s most Highly Cited Researchers (Clarivate) since 2017. Professor Schapira is the recipient of several international awards and was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1999. He was appointed a Senior Investigator at the National Institutes of Health Research in 2012 and to Academia Europaea in 2023. He was awarded the Dorothy Russell Medal in 2024.

  • Surendran Chellappah

    Member: Trust Board, Remuneration Committee and Finance & Performance Committee Suren is Global Head of Risk and European and Chief Operating Officer of the financial services firm Sanford C. Bernstein; he was also the European Chief Financial Officer for the period 2003-2020. He was formerly European Chief Financial Officer for Instinet. He has many years of experience of leading on finance, operations and technology and of chairing risk oversight committees. Outside of financial services, he has worked with Pilotlight, an award-winning charity to match skilled business leaders with charities and social enterprises across the UK.
