    Chair

    Joining the Trust as chair in early 2025, Megan is an accomplished leader with extensive executive and non-executive experience in the public sector, including local government, housing, education and health and care services. Her executive career has included roles that balanced internal performance in large service providers with an external focus on creating new models of partnership. During her time as Assistant Chief Executive at Tameside Council, Megan led a £30m transformation programme to improve outcomes, reduce duplication and use resources more effectively and efficiently through working in partnership across Greater Manchester and with public and VCSE organisation’s within the borough. Megan transitioned to a non-executive career starting at Calderstones Partnership Trust, a specialist Foundation Trust providing Learning Disability services across the North West. She has since gained significant board experience in Trusts providing physical and mental health and adult social care services across the midlands, and in NHS planning and commissioning. Megan has more than 10 years’ experience as a Non-Executive Director in the NHS, including serving as Vice Chair and SID at Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, which serves a population of 1.5million in Staffordshire and Shropshire and provides regional perinatal, eating disorder and forensic services. Megan’s role included overseeing MPFT services in Shropshire, chairing the People Committee and Strategic Transactions Committee which led planning for a new forensic unit, integrated care hubs in North Staffordshire and the rebuild of Hayward Hospital due to RAAC. Megan joined Staffordshire Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board in 2022, where she was SID and Chair of Finance and Performance, contributing to strategic leadership and partnership building. The ICB is responsible for the health and care of 1.1 million people, overseeing delivery of improved outcomes and facilitating the transformation of services. Megan is passionate about the role of health and care services in population health management and improving outcomes through looking for the best solutions to people’s needs, not just medically but also socially. As a local resident she has a commitment to understanding and responding to the needs of our local population and is deeply committed to delivering the Trust's mission of inspiring hope and providing unparalleled care.

    Dr Clare Hammell

    Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer

    Clare was appointed as Medical Director in June 2022, having previously held the post of Deputy Medical Director at the Trust. Clare graduated from the University of Liverpool and undertook postgraduate training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in the Mersey Deanery. She was appointed as a Consultant in these specialties at the Trust in 2013. Clare has a keen interest in quality improvement and service transformation work and has completed fellowships in support of this. She is passionate about developing clinical leadership and has herself recently completed an MBA at The University of Exeter. Clare is also the Trust's Caldicott Guardian and maintains the role of Responsible Officer for the medical workforce within the Trust.

    Dr Wilson trained as a pharmacist and completed an MPhil by research in pharmacology before training in medicine, graduating from the University of Birmingham in 1996. He worked as a hospital doctor at both Leighton and Macclesfield hospitals before completing his training as a GP practice in Sandbach. After times as a locum GP, salaried GP and then GP Partner in Crewe he returned to Sandbach where he's been a partner for the last 13 years. From 2013 until 2020 Andrew was the Clinical Chair of NHS South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and then in 2020 elected as the Clinical Chair of the then newly merged NHS Cheshire CCG, a post he held until 2022. Dr Wilson has been involved within quality improvement work for several years and was one of Advancing Quality Alliance's (Aqua) Leadership for Improvement Fellows, he was also previously a board member of the Alliance. As well has his varied clinical interests which include musculoskeletal medicine and holistic approaches, he is interested in quality improvement and leadership. He is particularly passionate about the value of generalist like district nurses, practice nurses and GPs and about the use of the front line the care professional voice alongside those that use the services, in the redesign and improvement of services.
