    Matthew Trainer

    Chief Executive

    Matthew became Chief Executive of the Trust on 6 July 2026. He joined the Trust from Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he had been Chief Executive since 2021. Prior to this, Matthew was Chief Executive of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust for three years. He joined the team at Oxleas from King’s, having been Managing Director of the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH). Matthew has also held senior positions at NHS England, the Care Quality Commission and the MS Society.

  • Angela Helleur

    Chief Delivery Officer

    Angela took up the Chief Delivery Officer role at King’s in July 2025. She joined the Trust in September 2023 as Interim Site Chief Executive for Princess Royal University Hospital and South Sites, and was made substantive in the role in November 2023. She joined the Trust from the South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB), where she was Chief Nursing Officer. Angela has 40 years’ experience in the NHS having trained as a nurse in Exeter and a midwife at King’s. She was previously chief nurse, chief operating officer for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, and also held senior leadership roles in acute providers, a Strategic Health Authority and NHS Improvement.

  • Damian McGuinness

    Chief People Officer

    Damian took up the Chief People Officer role at King’s in September 2025. He joined the Trust from the London Ambulance Service (LAS), where he led the organisation’s People and Culture Directorate from 2021. Before joining LAS, Damian worked at Barts Heath NHS Trust, where he served as Director of People at The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals. Damian has significant experience of the NHS in London, having worked in HR and organisational development roles within acute, mental health and commissioning trusts for more than two decades. His role at King’s also includes leading the Trust’s efforts to make King’s a more equitable, diverse and inclusive organisation for staff, and the many people who use our services.

  • Julie Lowe

    Deputy Chief Executive

    Julie took up the Deputy Chief Executive role at King’s in July 2024. She joined the Trust in October 2020 as Interim Site Chief Executive for the King’s College Hospital site, and was made substantive in the role in April 2021. Julie joined the NHS in 1992 as a national NHS management trainee. She has worked in hospitals in London, Yorkshire and Hertfordshire in a variety of positions, including nine years in Chief Executive roles. Prior to joining King’s, Julie spent three years as Programme Director for the South East London Integrated Care System.

    Chief Medical Officer

    Before joining King’s, Mamta was Chief Medical Officer and a Consultant Paediatric Intensivist at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. Prior to this she was Deputy Medical Director at The Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, where she worked for more than 15 years.

    Roy joined the Trust in March 2024 on secondment from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he was Chief Financial Officer. He was made substantive in the role at King's in November 2024. Before joining the team at Norfolk and Norwich in 2020, Roy held a number of Board positions within the NHS, including as Chief Financial Officer at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Roy is a Chartered Management Accountant, and is also a Trustee at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He has also worked as an Executive Reviewer for the Care Quality Commission.

    Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Midwifery

    Tracey has over 30 years’ experience as a nurse, and has held several other senior nursing positions, including Deputy Chief Nurse at Barts Health. In May 2019, Tracey received a prestigious Chief Nursing Officer award, and in 2020 she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her nursing leadership and services to the NHS.

      1. Curry's plc – Non-Executive Director. This is a remunerated position, and I also hold shares in the company, which is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange. Curry's is a large electrical retailer in the UK and overseas. It is possible that there may be incidental transactions with entities in the King’s College Hospital group, but I am not privy to/aware of the details of these. position at Currys ceased wef 4 September 2025 when I stood down at the AGM as planned.
