    Joss Bigmore

    Group Chair

    Joss Bigmore is the Group Chair of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals (ASPH) and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trusts. He first joined the NHS in March 2023 as Chair of Royal Surrey, and was appointed ASPH Chair in February 2026. He has been a Guildford Borough Councillor since 2019 representing Christchurch and most recently Merrow. He led the Council between September 2020 and September 2022, before returning to the backbenches following the local elections in 2023. In 2024 he was elected as Convener of the Surrey Heartlands Trust Provider Collaborative, a committee with representation from the four provider organisations in our area, tasked with driving collaboration to improve quality, safety, access and sustainability. Joss retired from a career in finance in 2016 when a Managing Director of Credit Suisse, having started his career in the trading pits of the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE). He holds an Economics Degree from Cambridge University, graduating from Downing College in 1998. A keen (rather than talented) golfer and cyclist, he also acts as Treasurer of the Charlotteville Jubilee Trust which manages ‘The Spike’, a Community and Heritage Centre in Charlotteville.

    James joined the Trust in 2015 as Associate Director of Operations for Theatres, Anaesthetics, Surgery and Critical Care, and went on to become Director of Operations the following year.

    Chief Medical Officer

    Mark is a Respiratory Consultant with an interest in lung cancer and end of life care. He has worked at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust since 2004 and became Deputy Medical Director in 2019. He became an Associate Medical Director (Operations) in 2017. In 2023 Mark enjoyed a six-month period as Acting Medical Director for the Trust.

  • Hannah Hamilton

    Chief Finance Officer

    Hannah Hamilton joined Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Chief Finance Officer in July 2025. Hannah brings extensive experience from both the NHS and the private sector. Most recently, she was Chief Finance Officer at NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board, and before that, she served as Regional Director of Finance at NHS England, where she oversaw a £17bn budget for the South East and supported delivery of national and regional priorities. She joined the NHS in 2014 through the Executive Fast Track programme, following a successful career in the airline and manufacturing industries. Since then, Hannah has held senior finance leadership roles across the breadth of the NHS – at providers, Sussex ICB and NHS England combining strong commercial acumen with a passion for improving health outcomes.

    Chief Nursing Officer

    Jay joined the trust in January 2025. He has worked in the NHS for over 25 years, initially as a healthcare assistant whilst studying for his adult registered general nurse qualification which he attained in 2001. His first clinical placement as a student nurse was at Ashford Hospital in 1999.

    Chief People Officer

    Jo joined the Trust as Chief People Officer at Ashford and St Peter’s in January 2024. She has worked in the NHS for 24 years, starting as a HR Assistant in a mental health and community Trust in West Sussex, where she stayed for 10 years building her career in HR. In 2009, Jo moved to an acute Trust in Sussex and carried out a variety of HR roles while there, staying for 13 years. Jo joined The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in September 2021 as Deputy CPO before being appointed Interim CPO in November 2022.

  • Ruth Colburn Jackson

    Group Director of Transformation and Digital

    Ruth joined Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust as Group Director of Transformation in September 2025. Ruth brings over 20 years of NHS experience spanning finance, corporate services, operational leadership, commissioning, and system development at local, regional, and national levels.

    Group Director of Neighbourhood Health

    Tom has extensive experience in the NHS, having worked at executive level in operational management and strategy across the acute and community sectors. He recently served as interim CEO for CSH Surrey, a social enterprise providing NHS community services in the NW Surrey area. Prior to that he led the strategy function at ASPH, developing corporate and clinical strategy and providing executive leadership of transformation across the NW Surrey health system.
